Human pace.
Steady ground.
Life won’t slow down. You can learn to.
Who this is for
Individual, couple, and family therapy for adults (18+) who are ready to do the work—steady change, not chasing quick fixes.
Ready to go deeper
You’ve done the work—read the books, maybe years of therapy. You have insight, language, frameworks. And still, something in your body hasn’t gotten the message. The next level isn’t more understanding—it’s building new capacity, from the inside out.
Holding it together
You’ve built something real—work, family, a reputation for handling it. Nobody sees what it costs to keep it running. Some days it takes everything you’ve got; some days there’s nothing left. When you’re ready to stop just coping, this is a solid place to start—one doable step at a time.
Trauma that lingers
Maybe it was one event, or years of pressure that trained your system to stay on guard. You’re jumpy, numb, irritable, or stuck in reactions you hate. When you’re done white-knuckling it, we’ll work with both your story and your nervous system toward felt safety.
Veterans & first responders
You’ve carried more than most people will ever know, and you’re still functioning—but the cost keeps climbing. If you’re done managing symptoms, we’ll build real capacity—better sleep, stronger relationships, solid ground—until you become your own guide.
How we work
A conversation first
We start with a free, structured 15-minute phone consult consult to see if it’s a fit—no pressure, no commitment.
Steady footing
The first few sessions are about safety and getting your bearings. We go at a pace your system can hold.
The deeper work
From there, we work with your story and your nervous system—building capacity until you become your own guide.
What I offer
Not a cookie-cutter approach—one integrated process, tailored to you.
Whether it’s trauma, grief, everyday stress, or reaching for your next level—what you’re carrying isn’t just a story in your head. It lives in your body and nervous system, right now. So that’s where we work. As a scholar-practitioner, I draw on evidence-based methods—EMDR, iRest® Yoga Nidra (a meditation practice used in DoD and VA settings), and DBT—tailored to what you need. We start wherever you are—and build, step by step, toward better, and then beyond. Not a quick fix. Steady is the safer way through.

EMDRIA Certified · iRest Certified
I didn’t set out to be a therapist. In the early nineties I was working my way toward a radically different path when a part-time job as a psych tech was placed in my way. Watching people do the hard work of healing — and the people who walked beside them through it — I recognized my true calling, unplanned. One of those healers pointed me toward the training that fit, and by 1994 I was in a bilingual marriage-and-family program in San Antonio. I’ve been practicing since 1997 — still on that path, still learning, still growing, and it keeps getting more interesting.
Most of those years I was an outpatient therapist in the trenches of community mental health — across three states, with stretches in foster care, schools, and in-home work along the way — sitting with people in genuinely hard places before I opened my own practice.
I’m a scholar-practitioner: everything I offer is grounded in something real, not trends or guesswork. That turn is what gave me the tools — EMDR, iRest, DBT — and nearly three decades of practice to sharpen them.
I’ve known loss and hard roads myself, which is why I don’t sit above anyone. I walk beside people — we’re in the same boat. I try to be a good steward of this earth, and of the time we’re given.
Married thirty-two years, I’ve raised two niece-daughters as an uncle-dad, and I’m happiest outdoors on my bike, usually with a basset hound nearby.
Questions
A few things people ask
Do you take insurance?
$150 per session, for adults 18+. I’m in-network with BCBS, UBH, and TriCare—your insurance can confirm your mental health coverage, deductible, and patient responsibility. Not on my panels? I can provide a monthly superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you meet in person or online?
Both. I see clients at my office and by secure telehealth across Kansas and Missouri. Some clients meet in person, some online—we’ll set up what works for you.
Do I have to relive or talk about everything?
No. You won’t be asked to retell everything—EMDR and somatic work don’t need it. You control how much you share. Real change can be uncomfortable, and some sessions are harder than others—that’s the nature of this work. My job is to keep it workable, and we never push past what you’re ready for.
What are the first sessions like?
They’re about evaluation and foundation—not diving into heavy details. We take stock of where you are and start building the capacity to anchor into felt safety, at a pace your system can hold. Deeper work only when we agree together.
Take the first step
You don’t have to have it figured out.
The first step isn’t a commitment—it’s a conversation. If any of this resonated, let’s find out together whether we’re a good fit.
